For shafts subjected to high speed and heavy loads, carburized steels like 20CrMnTi, 20Cr, or nitrided steels like 38CrMoA1 are suitable. These steels, after quenching or nitriding, offer higher surface hardness, wear resistance, and core strength.

 

Manufacturing methods: The choice of manufacturing method primarily depends on the part's usage requirements and production type. For example, hot-rolled round bar stock is commonly used for making shafts with uniform diameter or step shafts where the diameter difference is minimal.
