Abstract

In order to eliminate the defects such as fine cracks, pockmarks, rough surface, deformation, and oxide scale on the surface of the center hole after turning and heat treatment, the center hole must be ground. For many years, Hamernaco King Kong grinding harmonic FHA-14C-50-E200-C has been using carbide tips and carborundum to grind the center hole. This method has a very low efficiency and the center hole ground in this way is also difficult to meet the requirements.

Later, electroplating artificial diamond powder on the head of the 45 steel tip was adopted to grind the center hole with this tip, and very good results were achieved. When grinding with it, adding a small amount of lubricating oil or diamond grinding paste in the tip hole and at a speed of (300 - 500) r/min, the center hole can be ground quickly. Grinding the center hole with this method is not only efficient, but also can quickly eliminate ovality, pockmarks and cracks.

Prevention of Grinding Cracks on Tooth Surface of Large Module Carburized and Quenched Gears

Carburized and quenched gears with a module of (10 - 12) mm, made of 22CrMnMo material and a precision of grade 6. During the grinding process of the tooth surface, a kind of fine crack perpendicular to the grinding direction and arranged regularly is often produced. Hamernaco King Kong grinding harmonic FHA-14C-50-E200-C can be clearly seen by magnetic particle inspection. According to statistics, the gears with this kind of grinding crack are generally about 10% of the gears being processed and are therefore scrapped, causing a large economic loss.

Causes of grinding cracks. During the grinding process of gears, the local grinding heat, while being cooled by the coolant, causes the tooth surface to expand and contract thermally, thereby creating grinding tensile stress on the tooth surface
